Why this directory exists

Documentation software is hard to compare from the outside. Capture tools, knowledge bases, wikis and digital adoption platforms all promise that people will find answers faster, and the product pages often look alike. Buyers usually find out what a tool is good at only after they have moved their content into it. We built SnappyGuides to give a plain first view: what each tool does, which job it is mainly for, and what to ask before you commit.

The site is for the people who write the guides, such as technical writers, support leads, operations managers and trainers, more than for the people selling to them. We keep descriptions short and factual, mark details we couldn't confirm, and leave out scores we would have to make up. Tool makers can submit or claim a listing for free, and paid placements are always labeled.

We also try to say what each kind of tool cannot do, such as keep itself up to date, because that is where documentation projects most often go wrong.

How tools are chosen and described

A tool is listed once we have confirmed that its official site is live and that it does what our description says. Each tool sits in the one category that fits its main job, even when it covers several. We don't publish scores, rankings or prices, because prices change often and a score would be our opinion dressed up as a fact. Tools we couldn't confirm stay off the site until we can.

We also leave out general note-taking apps and research tools. This directory is for the people who write instructions, help content and training material for others to follow.

Right now that is 73 AI documentation tools in 10 categories, last checked 2026-11-04.

Makers can submit or claim a listing for free. A person checks every request before anything changes. Paid placements are marked Sponsored wherever they appear, and they never change what we write about a tool.

Corrections and removals

If a listing is wrong, or a tool has shut down, tell us. We answer within a week and rebuild the directory with the change.
